It was obvious on my car (2004) that no one had ever been under the cowl prior, and therefore no one had ever removed the wiper arms prior.
I have never, in a handful of times, used so much force to pull wiper arms in all my life. I was using a lisle battery/wiper arm puller (which is a good tool for the job (the hood constricts movement a bit on the driver side (usa left hand drive) wiper arm) but this tool always has worked for me on other models of cars.
usually the lisle pull pops of arms in a few turns.
this time around on this car it took an incredible amount of force on the small arm (I used pliers to grip and turn)
when the arms finally popped off, it almost gave me a heart attack.
Fast forward, when I was buttoning everything up after installing the motor, I forgot like the total dummy I am, to replug the wiper motor wire harness connection!!
I tightened on the wiper arms and tested and nothing. My heart sank.
going through the two wiper arm removal again was a defeating thought, especially as I figured third time around I really would have a heart attack with all that pressure on the arms with the puller.....
well.... I took about two turns with my pinky and they popped right off.
SO just heads up, if the arms haven't been pulled in awhile, they may take a lot of force....
hopefully they wont.
good luck.
I support your plan of action....sounds good.
