I just did a google Search and came up with all kinds of photos and reference to the fix

You have to get to the connector going into the ECU. Take a look at the photos in is a couple of inches from the large connector. The original splice is grounds from the 2 O2 sensors that are grounded by a single wire on the ECU.
I seems that the crimped and sealed connector gets some king of galvanic reaction and corrodes enough to interfere with the ground to the O2 sensor. Remember that the voltage here is 1 volt or less, so it does not take much corrowion.
The fix is to remove the connection and solder a new one in with heat shrink tubing for insulation.
