CEL and bad fuel
Posted by LB [Email] (more from LB) on Sun, 11 Aug 2019 17:13:56
I have a 2004 2.3T wagon.
I've had the cel (engine icon) mostly on for the last 5 or 6 weeks and it's been running without issue so I haven't done anything about it. It's happened once before in the summer and then went away so I hoped it would just stop again.
I put a tank of gas in and now I can barley keep it running, bucking really bad if the rpm's aren't high enough..Flat out dies if they get too low. Runs ok at highway speed but it's pretty much un-driveable in town. I'm going to check for codes tomorrow. I think the gas may be partly to blame but that can't be the whole reason, I'm just not sure where to look and hoping someone has an idea or two. Thank you.
