There's nothing integrated into the radio, so you can unplug it and it won't cause any problems. Assuming you have the Harman/Kardon stereo that most 9-5s sold in the US have, it's actually far easier to keep the stereo's amplifier and all of the speakers. The factory head unit outputs balanced line level signals, and to adapt the amplifier's balanced line level inputs to the regular line level outputs on most aftermarket radios, you'll need two adapters. First, is a Metra 70-1786 adapter, which connects the line level RCA outputs on an aftermarket radio to the wires in the car. Second, you'll need a pair of ground loop isolators to go in between the radio and the adapter. These will essentially convert the radio's unbalanced outputs to balanced outputs and will eliminate the hard pops you'll get if you don't use them. Other than those two things, the only thing you'll need to find is a proper installation kit. The Clarion 2DBKT used to be the most recommended one for double DIN radios, but it doesn't seem to be manufactured anymore.
