Again 1999 9-5 AT 2.3LPT 320k miles never any tranny work
My understanding the "space" around the toque converter is a dry space. I think I may have fluid weeping out of what I think might be a rubber plug on bottom of torque converter housing (I wish I could figure out how to post some pics). This plug I wonder is it an access port to the space around the torque converter perhaps a way to access a direct drain plug on the torque converter. Trying to figure out why it exists. I am thinking it should be dry but it is very wet with tranny fluid and I yet to have figure out another route of fluid to this plug area since it is recessed up in the housing. item #34 in this diagram https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/epc/saab/sba/04-90063/0547/
I do plan to pull this plug out and see how much fluid runs or pours out, dry it off. replace it and see how long till fluid starts leaking again. try to determine how necessary to address the leak or just live with it.
Assuming it is supposed to be dry in the space around the torque converter and if the fluid is coming from the rubber plug itself then I must have a leak either from the torque converter or the seal between the transmission and the torque converter space right? Neither of which can be addressed without pulling the transmission right?
Thanks everyone. I have never done any tranny work (and don't really want to!)
