Thanks... I live in Connecticut... and when I first purchased the car new, they were using a semi-synth blend. So I switched to a full synth within a year or so.. and have used Mobil 1, most of the way, changing it every 5k miles.
I also switched over to the PCV#6 upgrade kit.. once I had heard about it.. on these forums..
I think what's helped keep things clean, as well, were the engine flushes I started doing over the past several years. I did one treatment of AutoRx 6 or 7 years ago.. Then I did a few flushes using Liqui Moly, later switching over to the BG product the last 2 yrs..
i was losing a quart of oil nearly every 800-900 miles, so gave the BG engine flush a few tries, at the recommendation of my Saab mechanic... as he said it was used by some german carmakers to free up rings, etc.. I did see a marginal improvement, where I now get around 1000 miles, before adding a quart..
I also tried a piston soak a few months ago.. but I haven't noticed any improvement.. and I replaced my turbo at around 150,000 miles.. the current one doesn't seem to have any shaft play when I checked it this weekend... so I suppose the rings are probably just worn... oh well...
