Your link to the hinged one seems to be broken, but I have to admit, that's a great idea. The caps on both of my 9-5s have broken. I found a like new one at the junkyard for one car, and I bought the cheap new one for the other. Just like you, I had the hinge break immediately, but I got the seller to replace it. I heated up the new one with a hairdryer before folding it shut, and that worked.
