A day delay but Amazon delivery of the Metra female connectors came today. Labeled as "For Certain Chrysler Vehicles" they do fit the 9-5 OEM male speaker plug, but with polarity reversed. I got fussy and disassembled the connectors and swapped the wires so black was the ground wire as per the car wiring. New Infinity 3 Ohm 6 x 9 polypropylene cone speakers with rubber cone surrounds fit right into the factory deck. Just in time as the second OEM paper cone speaker had also started buzzing with a crack/tear starting at the surround. Managed to remove the second plastic finish deck grille without breaking out a section as in the first one at the underside clip to deck slot location. Trick is to slip a flat blade screwdriver under the grille panel to get as close to the actual spring clip and then twist leverage it up. Tried pulling up at the edge of the first grille and broke it with a better repair needed. End result is new bass speakers for years to come, albeit needing a little more fade adjustment towards the rear to get the performance with the 1 Ohm resistance increase of the new speakers. Interesting to note that original speakers are supposedly Harmon Karden and Infinity seems to have absorbed Harmon since then.
