Not Shutting Down Properly - 2011 9-5 Posted by tspoto [Email] (#147) [Profile/Gallery] (more from tspoto) on Tue, 15 Sep 2020 19:01:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2011 9-5. I've looked for a similar issue in the threads and haven't found anything relevant.
My girlfriends father loans me his 2011 9-5 when I visit since my Saabs are distant.
The last time I visited, the car started giving me a Put Car in Park (to paraphrase) message when trying to shut down the engine, engine stops but nothing else radio, lights, etc quits. I have put the car in park. The locks have unlocked when shifting to Park, so some aspect of the car recognizes that the car is in Park. Sometimes if I restart the car and shift to Drive, then put it back into Park and push the Engine Start/Stop button the car will fully shut down (the radio goes out the lights go out, etc etc). Sometimes I have to do it several times. If I walk away before it has officially shut down, eventually the radio stops and the driving lights go out, after something like 5 minutes. As soon as I return to the car I get 3 chirps like it's mad at me for not shutting it down correctly.
Took it to a dealership (someone who use to sell Saabs and has the diagnostic tools yet). They tell me they can find no fault codes. OK what is going on? The locks unlock as I said, so the car at some level recognizes it's in Park, but whatever controls the rest of the shutdown process doesn't.
Apologies for the rambling explanation.
Thanks for any light that can be shined on this.
