Generally speaking issues with Dexcool arose in cars where air was trapped in rust prone areas (like steel) or in those with chemically incompatible materials, as Dexcool could become a plasticizer for some plastics/elastomers (they are getting too soft).
Dexcool is not an issue in Saabs, where cooling circuit is self bleeding (no need to evacuate air manually like in some other cars). Only thing I've seen to be plasticized by Dexcool in a Saab was thermostat gasket after several years of service.
Nowadays Dexcool does not present state-of-the-art in coolants, but is cheap and and not creates serious maintenance issues. You can buy coolants using newer chemistry but it has to be wise choice, taking into account cooling circuit design and materials.
If you want to change coolant type, always flush the cooling circuit at least twice with clean demineralized water and remember that during standard bleeding it is not possible to bleed all the coolant volume - a few liters will remain in the circuit, what has to be taken into account filling - you have to use proper amount of concentrate and fill the remaining part with demineralized water.
Example:
1. circuit after water flushing - some unknown amount of water left;
2. circuit capacity 8,5l -> concentrate amount 4,25l (50:50% vol.);
3. fill the rest with demineralized water.
Tip: on the bottom of radiator there is a drain cock which discharges the coolant through bottom radiator's mounting - very handy - no spillage (but remember to take off the bottom cover). Valve could be hard to rotate after years.
