Smog I/M Readiness & CEL reset

My 2001 9-5 is due for a Smog Check. The car has been running and idling great but I recently got a P0100 CEL as I was backing out of the driveway. I have since replaced the MAF with a new OEM MAF but that didn't automatically reset the CEL. I can reset the CEL with my code reader but I don't want to also reset the OBD2 smog readiness monitors which are currently ready to go despite the MAF CEL. The 9-5 is not my daily driver and it has always been a little slow/difficult to get the OBD2 I/M readiness drive cycle tests to complete. If I reset the CEL with my code reader will that also reset the I/M readiness monitors too? I know that pulling fuse 17 to the ECU will definitely reset the monitors but I don't know if clearing the CEL with a code reader would do the same.
The internet said that a CEL will generally go out on its own if the issue has been fixed and the ECU has decided that there is no longer a problem but I've been driving the car for a few days now and the CEL hasn't turned off yet. The car is still running great though.
