My 2000 Aero was losing about a quart about every 1000 miles, the same as MLC's. Some of it was leaking out of the oil pan, which I recently fixed by resealing it, but it still burns some. I've always assumed the rest was due to worn rings. I replaced the turbo at one point, which didn't do anything to reduce oil consumption. My wife's 2001 Aero, which has a recently rebuilt engine, has leaky seals on the turbo, (it puffs blue smoke when you gun it), but it's not enough to cause noticeable oil consumption between oil changes. That one's great, and it goes 5,000 miles between oil changes without ever needing to be topped up.
