Ignition slot acts like it always thinks the key is present Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Thu, 22 Sep 2022 10:44:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 2008 9-5 Sportcombi recently started having some weird behavior with the key so I thought it might be the battery was wearing out. After replacing the battery, I have not been able to get the buttons on the key to remotely do the lock/unlock. I tried pushing the lock button multiple times near the car (like I used to do to re-synch the fob on my OG 9-3 after a battery change), but that did not get the remote function working. I can lock/unlock the car manually with the key but now also when I remove the key from the ignition after parking the car, it acts like it does not recognize that I have removed the key. For example, the radio stays on and has to be turned off manually. The "ding-ding-ding" chime plays when I open the door as if I had left the key in the ignition, etc.
Is this some issue with the battery replacement or does this indicate some type of problem with the ignition module....or something else?
