I also bought my Tech2 on aliexpress about 9 or 10 years ago and it arrived quickly via DSL. I have used it since on numerous SAABs, mine and others, and had no problems whatsoever. I even looked at a 9-5 for sale a while back and programmed the owner’s extra key even though I did not ultimately buy the car. I bought an extra main cable because those complex plugs with many pins worried me, but I have had no cable problems. The CAN unit also works well on the newer models. My old 9-5s now lose the radio programming whenever I disconnect the battery, so the Tech2 is invaluable for re-marrying the radios. I see a number for sale from China on eBay with many positive reviews so that might be a source. I always wonder whether the “genuine” Tech2s for sale on eBay, usually used, are truly genuine or just more clones. I can’t say how to tell the difference since my clone looks genuine enough. Whatever you buy, take care of it as you would any sensitive electronics and you should have years of service. I wasn’t impressed by offers of “returns accepted” because return shipping to China would probably cost more than the thing is worth. Sometimes you have to roll the dice and try your luck. I never go on a trip in a Saab without the Tech 2 (among other things) as Saab specialists are getting rarer than hens’ teeth and most problems I have are easily resolved by me and diagnosing a problem should enable most technicians to take over if the problem is beyond my skills.
