I have owned a 2003 aero wagon since september 2002. I have been a Saab technician since 1982.
I am currently a Saab OSC. I have a box full of 9-5 wiper switches. They almost never fail.
99% of the rain sensor complaints in my shop are either due to a replacement windshield or operator error. The switch must be moved to the off position if the car has been turned off to re-activate the rain sensor- which then must be moved to position 1. I have never like the rain sensor feature.
It's just part of driving to turn on your normal wipers.
The little slider changes the sensitivity of the rain sensor.
