how much engine movement is normal?

Just a quick question:
Had the oil pan in my '02 9-5 Linear dropped yesterday, great news, there was very little buildup of anything and just 5-10% of the screen had anything on it, now I'm good for another 100k:).
The question: There is a rattle/rumble that wasn't there prior to the work. In looking at the engine while my wife moves the selector from Park to Drive the engine tilts forward and back quite a bit. Easily an inch maybe 3. Just wondering if this is normal?
The sound sounds almost like an exhaust rattle but hard to determine without a lift. Any other possible sources based on the work done?
Thank you in advance! Like so many I wouldn't own a Saab if not for this site. Yes, I am a member, just can't remember my log in password, it's at home in a safe place:).
