Turbo oil leak Posted by mb [Email] (#2713) [Profile/Gallery] (more from mb) on Fri, 2 Jun 2023 15:41:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have persistent oil leak that my mechanic and I have narrowed down to the turbo. I replaced the turbo with a new original Saab, including all new oil and coolant lines and the correct washers. The oil leak continues as if I've done nothing.
Other things that I've replaced with new, original parts: crankshaft seal, oil cooler lines, timing chain tensioner seal, pcv valve, oil pump housing o-ring, crankcase ventilation (everything), oil pan seal and all new seals including the dip stick, and oil thermostat. I probably missed a few other things. I have not replaced the valve cover or head gaskets as they are clearly not leaking. I have cleaned all of these areas and they are bone dry, including the oil pressure sensor, which I did not replace.
The oil is dripping from a bolt on the turbo and is spreading to the oil filter and oil plug. This was the same pattern and rate with the old turbo assembly. There are no leaks above the turbo.
My mechanic thinks that using silicone to seal the washers and bolts on the turbo oil lines will fix the problem. That's my next next attempt to fix it.
