Definitely agree with Paul. The '06 and newer are better to own, because the Air Handler/Climate Control apparatus under the dash is quite good on the '06 and newer 9-5s and is often shot (especially on Southern and Hot Climate) older 9-5s and also, you get away from the inoperative displays and all that with the '06 and newer ones. These are IMO the achilles heel, of the 2002-2005 9-5s which are otherwise, really cool to own. The big downside I think on '06 and newer, is the fuel filter placed inside the tank - I detest that. Yeah, the first time I test drove the new "Dame Edna" I was kinda unhappy about the look and feel of the plastics.
Blue Devil, is there any chance your '06 was in a collision? Because, I have two '04s, an '05 and two '06s and the difference (when there is one) is the Arc versions are plush, while the ones with the stiffer suspension are a little more intrusive - otherwise no real pattern of difference.
