As the other commenter said, you don’t want to even think about buying anything but a genuine ignition discharge module. I have had many genuine modules fail over the years with a check engine light, but they never left me stranded with a flashing light. That type of failure can also destroy your catalytic converter with unburned gas so any saving would end up costing you a lot more in the end. I believe some of the usual Saab parts suppliers also sell “aftermarket” modules cheaper than OEM, but that does not mean they are acceptable. I think the genuine part is around $280 with the spark plugs or maybe around $240 without the plugs, but you probably want to replace the plugs. The OEM IDMs I have bought recently are no longer made by SEM, the supplier Saab used for decades, but now they come from a supplier in Germany. The new supplier does put a green dielectric grease on the plug tubes so you don’t need to have the grease like with the SEM parts. I find the genuine Saab IDMs come directly from the Hedin warehouse in NJ whichever supplier you use. Good luck on your repairs.
