Replaced my D1S lamps yesterday, and am very happy after driving last night. I hadnot realized how quickly the “alleged’ Philips had deteriorated.

Install notes. I have a 2003 V6 (Arc) which -just FYI and for the record - recommends removal of the headlight assemblies (which doesn’t require bumper skin shenanigans in that year). I don’t take the assemblies out.

I replaced them (like in the past) from the top removing (and cleaning while it was out) the MAF sensor on the passenger side, and the battery on the driver side. In both cases I had plenty of clearance to remove and replace the bulbs without making contact with the anything on the protruding part of the assembly.

Driver side was easy - straight in and out and the new bulb seated solidly and squarely right off. Passenger side was a little more annoying; bulb went in but wouldn’t seat squarely. Once I was sure all wires were out of the way I noticed that one of the tines on the housing was bent. I reinserted the bulb favoring that edge first, and then the rest slotted right into place.

If you have to fight the spring retainer into place, the bulb hasn’t seated correctly

Very happy I swapped these bulbs.
