Misfire after Fuel Injectors Posted by fdw201 [Email] (#2066) [Profile/Gallery] (more from fdw201) on Fri, 23 Feb 2024 16:58:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2003 V6
At least 1 of my fuel injectors was going bad. I had bad gas mileage, hard start, black smoke out of the exhaust at idle, and down in power and smoothness.
My Tech2 also showed lots and lots of misfires in Cylinder 5.
So, I replaced the injectors - an easy job - with rebuilt ones.
For over a week, the car has run great, MPG is up 4+, all other symptoms resolved. Today, at a stoplight the car started idling lumpy, I got an intermittent flashing engine light. So I turned around and took it home and things smoothed out over 2k RPM - no flashing cel, etc.
Code that popped was for a misfire on cylinder 2.
I tried swapping the DIC, but that didn't make a difference - still running rough at idle.
Occams razor states that it must be the new injector, right? I'll pull the plug tomorrow just to make sure but that seems unlikely (plugs have about 20k on them).
Thanks for any thoughts!
