My SAAB is down with an Ignition Switch that won't turn. So when the Ignition Switch was functional. you insert the Key and when you start yo turn it clockwise, the Cylinder drops down maybe a 1/16" of an inch and the Key turns. Mine has failed and with the Key inserted, it won't turn as the Cylinder doesn't drop down that little bit to release the cylinder to turn - if any of that makes sense?

I shot Lock-Ease, Tri-Flow, and De-Oxit in the Key's receptacle. No good. Maybe worse now.

So are the cylinders different between Cars?

Does the cover that says Off, Run Start pull off?

How does one remove the Ignition Switch Assembly?

This really sucks because most of the Wreckers here have send their SAAB's to the crusher.

Thanks for any information.

My SAAB got pissed and me and now I'm paying for it. Last Friday, I bought a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora powered by the 4.0 Liter NorthStar Engine. Got what I believe to be a good price because of Cylinder 6 and 3 misfires. I replaced the Spark Plugs and Plug Wires and it now runs perfect. Saturday morning I went to drive that SAAB to get parts for the Oldsmobile. The SAAB 9-5 said no way. Fiddled with the Key for a few minutes and it started. But now, the Key won't turn and the SAAB is blocking all out Cars from leaving the Driveway. Ugly.
