Here’s my take, especially with the random misfire code. The likelihood that the fast lube place did anything to the Ignition Cassette that would cause a misfire is slim. He could try disconnecting, cleaning and reconnecting the electrical connector in case that was somehow disturbed (again, unlikely).
Staying with the “did Valvoline do anything” theme, it’s more likely a vacuum line was disturbed or compromised, which can cause misfires. Likelihood isn’t high IMO, but worth a look for a dangling hose or hissing sound.
Depending on when the car last had new plugs, I would suspect them (and thats an easy DIY). If the Ignition Cassette is aging or even original, it would be worth having a new one around or pre-emptively swapping it out. A sudden failure with heavy misfiring will likely toast the cat converter.
Good luck.
