A tech 2 should be able to access the ACC and program that the car is not a V6, or that it doesn’t have a circulation pump. I know that many years ago my Indy had to reactivate the pump function, so it’s definitely in there. The tech 2 can also allow you to flex the individual stepper motors.

As far as the 11, 13 codes, yes they point to issues with the shafts. Two things come to mind - (1) The distribution (what duct air is directed to) and air mixing or temperature blend flap (drums, really) are driven by two different motors, however (2) they are both accessible on the RH side. Thats a lot easier than getting to the LH setup which is just an air mixing flap for the LH side of the car (usually sets code 8).

I think the difference between MY is just the materials used in shafts and stop arms of the air boxes versus setup.

Accessing the motors isn’t too bad once you have the glove box out, and it’s highly likely that the stop arm on the spindle the motor drives is the culprit. Easiest way to check that is to remove the motor and see what’s up, as well as see if the levers move by hand.

Another thing to check is to make sure the motor is actually working. Easiest way to check that is while the motor is dismounted, but still attached electrically, manipulate the heat from LO to HI or do the self-test. You may get extra codes as the motor isn’t attached, but the main purpose of this is to see if when the motor activates, the brass spindle that would drive the mixing flap is actually moving. If it isn’t, a couple of screws will separate the motor proper from its gearbox, and you may have to press the small gear onto the motor spindle to ensure it engages with the gearbox. Contributor “dmz789qqq” did a write-up on this a few years ago - search the board for his tips.

Finally, I’m attaching a link to a site that has fantastic pictures and step-by-step for a variety of DIY Saab projects, including accessing the various stepper motors. (While he discusses error 13 , if you go to his main page he shows how to access both the drivers and passenger side). In addition, while these photos focus on the distribution motor; the motor below it marked with R is the temperature mix side. Procedures will be broadly the same. Note that he had a friend make him the replacement parts he needed; nowadays they are readily available from site sponsors and other online sources.

Good luck……and might as well change the cabin filter while in the neighborhood!
