I've had my Chinese-clone Tech2 since 2019 and it still works fine, in fact I just used it recently to check out a Saab for someone. As far as I know V148.00 is the latest software version. (Older models with Trionic5 like my 9000s use V44.) Haven't had any problem with screen contrast.

It looks like there is a self-test mode but looks like it requires a special test connector. Not sure if mine came with that, though it does have a bewildering array of connectors.
