I purchased a pair of the E-code lenses from Daniel Stern about four months ago and I've found them to be far superior to the OEM specification DOT code lenses. The E-code lenses provide a much sharper beam cutoff, and unlike the DOT code lenses put more of the available light where you really need it - down low at the road level and also on the right side of the road. If you were to place your car about 25 feet from a garage door and shine the headlights on the door, the low beam pattern of the E-code lens would show a sharp line (at the height level of the top of the headlight) across the door, with it being dark above the line and light below this line. This line would then flare upward at an angle on the door, beginning to the right side of the car; this flare pattern feature lights up the shoulder of the road to enable you to see pedestrians, cyclists and animals. As opposed to the beam patter of the e-code lights, the OEM DOT code lenses will not have anywhere near as sharp of a beam cutoff, with more light "scatter" on the garage door above the height of the headlamp. This "scatter" effect results in light being bounced back into your eyes in rain, snow and fog weather conditions.
Given the choice I would never want to go back to the OEM DOT code headight lenses after driving with the E-code. Also, if you have any interest in improving the light output on your high beams, I understand that Daniel Stern also has higher output H-7 bulbs available for the 9-5 application.
