SO… been ignoring longtime CEL in my 2004 9-5 ARC and the Tech 2 says is P0455 / Serious Evap Leak. Nope. Not gas cap!!! Found mouse nest on top of fuel pump under rear seat. Taped up insulation chewed fuel pump wires. No gas fume smell anywhere. Did my own evap system smoke test with no leak evidence anywhere. Took car to reliable mechanic who identified rear evap vent as problem. But he hesitates when I asked if he actuated the valve to close as required b4 test…. Took car back home and decide to try ordering new fuel tank pressure sensor mounted on inaccessible top of tank. Maybe mouse chewed? Dreading work to drop tank and replace, but UPS manages to lose the delivery of the part!! Now 2 months past legal date for safety/emissions test and registration expired too…. Car runs fine and I just decide to do 2 near redline acceleration runs and contemplating another day of hiding car in subway parking garage to take metro to work.
LO and BEHOLD… later start up and NO CEL!!! Next day Tech 2 scan reveals NO CODES!!! I cross my fingers and head to usual inspection station and car passes emissions OBD scan as well as safety inspection. Car now legally registered and no emission testing for next 2 years. I know I didn’t erase any codes or the inspection would have shown so. Can’t figure out what “cured” things for now, but anxiety has passed!!! Thank you Saab Gods….
