Fuel Treatments do help depending on the engine. Two ring piston design engines end up consuming oil. Upper cylinder lube as made by Lucas and AmsOil seems to help with the oil consumption. Some additives help clean injectors and bring back a good spray pattern. Redline seems to get good press especially for GDI (Direct Injection) engines. Our SAABs are neither GDI nor two ring piston design and therefore won't benefit from these additives. A bottle of Techron every once in a while can help reduce carbon build-up and clean injectors. None of these additives will cure codes as far as I know.

Best to just read the code and talk to a trusted tech about it.
