Yeah, I've never had to replace a cat on a 9-5. They are pretty good even with all the salt on our roads. I guess though if one had bad misfires that could kill one.
Volvo otoh... Our 3.2L xc90 is giving persistent cat codes on both sides and it is like $6000 in parts OEM if I need to replace all 4! The oxygen sensors are $500 EA and there are 4 of them also! I've found some more cost effective options but SAABs are much cheaper to own haha.
