I did mine 2x. I carried a wooden dowel and a crab mallet for a long time to hit the NSS if the car failed to start. Finally, I opted to repair it, drilled out the rivets and put in bolts. That was in 2012.
First time, I opened it, cleaned it and re-greased it with dielectric grease (not e'nuff). In a year, it was an issue again, so I bought one. Before removal, I made a scratch mark for alignment and I had read that the new one came in N position, so I set the gear shift in N before doing anything. On reassembly, I hand-tightened the bolts and ran a check on the back up lights and no start in gear. I took photos every step (I removed a part (washers, etc)). Routing the cables was actually more of a pain than anything else. I have some photos on my gallery page from the first "repair."
