I’m a little puzzled here regarding the Cat……..how’s the car passing NYS emission is the cat is bad? I’m also in NY (downstate) and any emissions DTC will cause a failure.

If the cat actually failing or is he saying its needed because its integral with the other components that are leaking?

If the latter, a good exhaust shop can cut and weld new flex, preserving the cat itself.
