After months of deliberation, picked up our Linear Wagon, manual, premium package in black. I convinced the wife that the 9-5 was a much better car, for the money, than the Volvo s60. It took awhile, but she loved the car after the first and only test drive. We took vacation and logged 700 miles of highway and mountain miles (Adirondacks). Loved the feel, the pickup and the quiet ride. When going a little too fast on a mountain curve, I asked spouse why she was going so fast and she responded, "because I can" ! We loved our Passat wagon (another great car for the money), but the Saab made us believers in the whole "Saab way of life". Sorry for the long dissertation but i am still excited. Anyway a few questions: 1)The lumbar support in our car does not offer much support, even whem fully "on". Is this common? 2) I noticed that the rail ends for the front seats are exposed and seem very likely to cut a toe on the back seat passanger if barefoot. Again, is this common? 3) We found the stiching on the shift knob very annoying. Has anyone found some sort of cover or sock? I inquired about the wood knob but was told that the shifter had to cut and the new knob welded on. Sounds extream to me. The passat had great lumbar and plastic covering the rails, that is why I am asking. By the way, my wife actually cleaned the interior, washed, and then waxed the car last weekend. This was a first. I know she is hooked. Thanks so much, this site was a big reason for buying the car.
