02 Linear not quite right compared to 01

Hello. After getting my wife a 2001 base 9-5 in December and being very pleased with it I leased a 2002 Linear a month ago (1K miles so far). Love the car but can't help compare it to hers. Both are automatics but the 02 does not live up to the 01. The tranny seems slow to shift and there are vibrations/thumps (from the AC?) at idle. Thought it was just me but then she drove it and asked what is wrong? Are there substantial differences? Dealer mentioned improvements to the front suspension but not much else. Read on the board about software updates to the trans? Taking it in for the 1K service and want to be prepared. Thanks for any help..
