We see more problems with the 4cyl in terms of mechanicals(Head gaskets, turbo's and a few blown engines due to not changing oil and sludge clogging the oil pickup screen but there are more 4 cylinders out there. the 4 also seems to own the bad DI pack problem which will leave you on the side of the road. The six has a timing belt which can break and DESTROY the engine(including broken pistons and heads)but since they updated the tensioners etc. in the late 90's they seem to be pretty good.
All in all it is a pretty fair toss up but I do not like the fact that the 6cyl exaust tends to leak at the manifolds until warmed up. I would drive them both and then decide for yourself which you prefer. On feel alone I tend to prefer the added weight of the 6 but man does an Aero fly.
