I use the jack which came with the car along with a 2 ton jack stand. If you lift it up on the right (passenger in NA) you can get it high enough for an oil change. You could get it high enough by lifting from the left side as well, but the oil filter won't drain as well.
DO NOT go under the car supported only by the jack and don't forget to block the rear wheel opposite the side you've jacked up.
If you've got one, you can also use a trolley jack- there's lifting points for a trolley jack both fore and aft of each wheel.
IMO, you're going a bit overkill on the frequency, In my '02 Aero wagon I'm going with every 8000kms (5000 miles) if you're using a good quality synthetic (see numerous posts on this board for recommendations, I use Mobil 1) you should be fine, every 3000 (miles?) would just be wasting your money.
