'SAAB PERFORMANCE BY HIRSCH' SALES BEGIN OCT. 1 .... Saab Automobile announced Friday that sales of 'Saab Performance by Hirsch' customization packages for the 9-5 Aero, 2.3-liter turbo sedan and wagon models will begin Oct. 1. The announcement was made at the Paris Motor Show 2002.
Developed in association with Hirsch Performance AG of Switzerland, the sporty engine, chassis and styling aftermarket enhancements include a choice of power upgrades to 305 or 280 bhp. They are available exclusively through Saab dealerships in Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland.

'Saab Performance by Hirsch' products for the 9-5 Aero are offered in three packages, although customers can 'mix and match' items as they wish from an extensive portfolio.

The '305 bhp' package raises peak power by 22 percent and peak torque by 20 percent, to 420 Nm, still available from 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. The '280 bhp' package lifts maximum power by 12 percent and torque, at 400 Nm, by 14 percent, through the fitment of a larger air intake and intercooler; a single, larger stainless steel sports exhaust and engine management adjustments.

The chassis is lowered by 10 mm with harder, sports-tuned springs and dampers; larger front brake discs with four-piston calipers and 18-inch, six spoke alloy wheels with 235/40 low profile tires.

The 'Saab Performance by Hirsch' interior design package includes a gray carbon fiber fascia insert; a sports leather/carbon fiber steering wheel; drilled aluminum pedals with an alloy footrest; leather-trimmed door handles and carbon fiber kickplates on the door sills. Sports leather front seats can be additionally specified.
