I assume you want to lock the car while you are outside. You can lock it with the key in the door by turning counter clockwise. You can't lock it using the inside button if the driver's door is open, but you can do it with any of the other doors open. So, you can reach in from the passenger's side, hit the lock button and then close the door. Works fine. I think it is dumb you can't lock it from the drivers side before you get out like on most other cars.
The Saab locks are a sore point for me. I spent the first 6 monts of ownership w/o the remote because it was too be to fit in my pocket. It is a PITA to not have the remote. Now I spent $160 for a key w/remote and programing. Wow.
Still the lock software sucks. You can't lock the tailgate with the key. You have to hit two different buttons three times to open the whole car. In this repect I liked my Subaru better. One motion opened the whole car. I could lock the car with a button while I was leaving.
