Winter Tires - Vredesteins?

I talked to a tire store today to see what they were planning to stock for winter tires. They have 3 H-rated tires for the 215/55 R16 size:
1. Toyo Winter tire rated best for ice, but they felt it had a lot of sidewall flex.
2. The Dunlop Winter Sport M2, which they said was what Nokian copied for their NRW design.
3. The Vredestein Wintrac H, which they felt was the best in terms of not being to squirmy on the highway.
They felt that their customers really liked the Vredesteins. I also asked about the Michelin Pilot Alpins; but they offered no opinions, since they had little demand for them.
Most of the people on this board have has good things to say about the Nokian NRWs and the Gislaveds. Just curious if anyone had experience with Vredesteins. In Boston we get a mix of rain and snow. Even after a heavy snow storm, the roads are generally well plowed. But when you do get stuck in a snow storm some extra traction is welcome. I've been going with the MXV4 tires in the Winters. They are okay in the snow, but obviously could be much better.
I tend to think any snow tire will be a strong improvement. But I would like to hear from this board if they felt that the Vredesteins were a poor choice relative to other brands.
I do tend to wonder if traction control, which my 1999 9-5 does not have, would help with the MXV4s; but I figure regardless of traction control, that the snow tires would make all the difference.
