I'm sure this will generate a lot of flack, so go ahead.....
I hate it when someone trashes a motor through a simple reluctance to pull over and get the problem evaluated. There is really no excuse to run an engine completely out of oil, especially when there is obviously a lot of smoke pouring out and the engine starts running crappy. The exception is when the car is in a dangerous environment like the center lane of a busy freeway or a really nasty part of town.
If she only got two miles before the engine quit, then it definitely had a critical problem and should have been parked immediately.
I am sure the dealer will fix the car, but if I were the service manager I would have a very frank discussion with her about owner responsibilities.
