To be precise torque steer occurs on FWD cars having
unequal lenght drive shafts which is not the case on
a 9-5...
But lots of people use it to describe the fact that
as with any powerfull FWD car, the steering wheel
will move in the direction of the wheel that has
less traction during hard acceleration.
ie. If the right wheel has less traction then the left
wheel the steering wheel will slightly pull to the right.
As the the 9-5 has a strong power steering and as the steering
is quite light, this poses no real problems as you can quickly
counteract it by pulling the steering wheel back to where you
wana go.
And on when you drive through a tight turn giving your 9-5 full
power it's kind of fun cause your steering wheel puls into the
curve, so all you have to do its straighten out a bit... unlike
some other RWD cars where you can get very busy to regain/keep control.
The lpt/V6 do not have it as pronounced as the Aero, which can
keep you busy if you're driving fast uphill on a bad road. Even
so it's easy to keep control.
Regards,
Coolknight
