Hi,

There are many things wrong about the assertion (SAAB = Saturn).

I drive a 2002 2.3 LPT, but I will have to admit that V6 is probably
the more reliable engine. I4 is the more durable engine, however
(remember the old Saabs which were somewhat unreliable but more durable
than just about any other make? I4 was the most durable and reliable
part of those cars.).

Saturn L series is not reliable and not durable. I believe that it
has the old Opel V6 (no one says anything good about that engine among
Saab circles except "Good Riddance").

Saab Arc has the Vauxhall V6, which has proven to be comparatively
trouble free.

Build quality of Saturn L series is not like the build quality of
the S series. I used to drive Saturn SC2. I had absolutely no problems
with that car. I traded it in on a 9-5 Linear because I didn't want
to grow old with it, but as far as reliability it was on par with
Japanese makes.

Saturn L series reliability is on par with that of other domestic
makes (which is to say spotty to poor).

So the equation is wrong. Saturn L is a terrible car!

The only thing is that some parts can be had for a cheaper price if
you buy the Saturn version (such as brake rotors, which are marked as
"Saab"). Some parts are identical in every way except for price.

So, get yourself a Saab and then ask around for Saab parts which are
shared with Saturn L. That would be *my* recommendation.
