Dick, can you explain to me the benefits of why Mobil 1 0W-40 is going to benefit me ? You've read my posts over the years, I think. I have used Mobil 1 10W-30 (for the most part) in these 2.0 litre 185 hp/200 hp/205 hp HOT turbo engines and thinking back @ probably at an average interval of 7,500 miles to 10,000 max. Never had any incidence of engine or Turbo problems. Never had a synthetic oil problem, or an oil problem for that matter ever in my SAABS in over 25 years of driving 'em.

Now, in the '02 9/5 Aero, which seems to me to be the same engine relationship (as what the HOT is to the 2.0 litre family) the world is going to end if I don't use 0W-40.

I feel I can read and comprehend the specifications of the owners manual, and I see my driving application as basic. I don't race my AERO after midnight on deserted roads per se.... I don't tow a boat or trailer with the AERO.

I have done the oil analysis, and Mobil 1 5W-30/10W-30 can EASILY go 10,000 miles between changes--although I change the oil filter at 5,000 and top-off. And, again--NEVER had a problem.

Perhaps if I lived in Arizonza, or Texas, or Florida, I could see the Mobil 1 0W-40 for the opressive climate heat. But I live in Michigan.

This year, I did use the Mobil 1 0W-30 in the SUMMER in my 2002 9/3 HOT/automatic. The results were spectacular in mileage---I think I posted over 34 mpg on my 360 mile trip @ average speed of over 80 mph to the SOC in Cincinnati in what was 90F temps. RECORD HEAT !!

So back to my frustration of Mobil 1 5W-30 or 0W-30 (or even 10W-30) and I don't see how I'm going to hurt this motor in my style of driving.

Your thoughts, ideas, comments.......

Thanks.
