Hi JMR
I use the Meguires gel with a foam applicator or the Stoner "less Time - More Shine" spray. Both are great - each has some drawbacks. The Stoner product sprays on and looks great - but lasts only a couple of days. The gel goes on easy - looks just a little shiny - lasts for a full week - but little specks fly off at high speeds (80+ mph) and coat the lower edges of the body cladding and inner fender liners. The Stoner's products (tire shine, plastic surface preservative, Invisible Glass and "Tarminator) are all excellent. I get them from my local speed shop "Discount Performance" and by half a case - the owner puts the rest on display. That gets the cost down to app $3/can - not the high prices listed in the mail order ads.
With regard to Griot's, I love their Leather Preservative, and I was a big fan of Lexol and Connoly Hide Food before that (I keep the Armour-All Leather wipes in the trunk bag for unexpected human impacts on the seats - my family insists that it is proper to ride with me to places instead of following behind in the SUV - the sacrifices that I must make for love is nearly debilitating!). I love their liquid and paste waxes (Best of Show) as well (and I have used Mother's, Zymol for Saab, 3M, Blitz, and Meguires Carnuba - all still on the shelf for visiting fanatics). Some of their stuff is, I agree, overpriced.
Happy buffing
Eric
PS - just kidding about the family - although today one of our golden retrievers decided it would be cool to eat a container of "plumber's putty" which consists primarily of limestone, mineral oil and clay... and the better half of a television remote control. As I was driving him to the vet I was mentally preparing for a gastric explosion of epic proportion that would be true test of the Griot's products... as it turns out - we just have to wait until he passes a cement ingot that will probably emit rf signals and light up at night.
