There is a lot of dissension about this in various auto forums. Some people claim noticeable power gains - others don't. Unless your existing paper filter is clogged, don't expect much change.
I have used K&Ns in the past. My main complaint is the oily, sticky residue left in the inlet tract, intercooler and compressor blades. That can't help airflow, and it is unsightly when you remove an induction tube. I once cleaned the inside of the intercooler on my Mazda 323 GTX after 100,000 miles of K&N use, and the gunk that came out was pretty ugly. Not dirt - mainly gooey oil residue from the air filter oil. Maybe I was over-servicing the filter (too much oil), but I don't think I was. Has anyone else noticed these deposits?
The best way to obtain more power with any tubo engine is through an ecu software upgrade.
My advice? Wait for the warranty to end and then talk to Nordic or one of the other reputable tuners.
