Most batteries have at least a 48 month warranty, so you should have to pay only half if you go through Saab. Unfortunately, car dealerships generally charge a premium price for batteries, so it is unlikely you would save anything.
I recall about 20 years ago talking to a pilot who drove a big Mercedes sedan. He insisted that everything be done at the Mercedes dealer, no matter what it was. He had a battery fail and he told me they charged him $300 USD to replace it. I was floored that anyone would charge that much, and that anyone would PAY that much. Maybe he was pulling my leg.
I am eager to try the new Optima sealed battery. I have seen it in the larger sizes for about $120 USD at NAPA stores. Even if you don't want to go this route, check their website - it has some interesting technical info on this new technology.
If you want a standard battery, you can't go wrong with Interstate. I used to like the Sears Die-Hard line, but I have had a couple of less-than-satisfactory experiences with them and can no longer recommend that brand.
