I've had nothing but problems with this dealer's practices since we first started talking to them about buying the car. I won't go into it here, but they don't know their Saabs from a hole in the ground! They're 20-30 min away, & the next closest dealer is 50 min in the opposite direction. (Unfortunately, they've got AT LEAST as bad of a reputation as the local guy.) The only dealer with a good reputation is at least another 45 min beyond that, & it's not worth it (to me) to drive for 3 to 3&1/2 hrs just for an oil change.
I know what they SHOULD be doing. I know what SHOULD be going on with the car. The dealer doesn't care, 'cuz they're only worried about the next sale, not repeat business. Saabs are as thick as flies out here, so the two closest dealers don't give a flying rat's ass if I'm satisfied or not.
I know you're right about the '03/full-syn cutoff. When I got the "Test Drive An SS & Get A Free Oil Change" card from Saab, I called up the dealer & asked which oil they're using for this promotion. When the guy told me their bulk oil, I asked him why they weren't using Saab-certified products for a Saab-certified promotion. "That's just the way we do it," he says. So, I asked him how much it would be for a "real" Saab oil change using the OE 5W-30. Y'know what he said? "Um, the computer's showing the Saab oil as cheaper than our bulk oil, so I can't give you a price on that." (WTF?!) Without missing a beat, I asked him how much it would cost me to get the new OE 0W-30. After a long pause, he says, "This new oil's showing as $10.78 a quart. I'm not sure that's right, though. I don't even know if we've got any of it in yet." Okaaaay... THANKS!
Sorry for venting here. Like I said, I think it's a dealer decision. That doesn't make it right or desireable, only frustrating for me. These guys have several dealerships, so there's obviously enough people who don't know how it SHOULD work to keep them going. That's what they're counting on. Since I know what's supposed to happen with my car, I keep my guard up when dealing with them. But I feel real sorry for all the folks who don't know.
BTW, how's that boost cutoff thing workin' out?
