Generally speaking I would tend to agree with you ... but in actual fact just my TV and VCR are NAD. My DVD is Harman/Kardon. All three are very good in my opinion.
My stereo is a hotch-potch of old and new, bought and inherited: Marantz CD & turntable (the CD is excellent), old Pioneer amp (was good some years back), Sony minidisc (very good), awful Sansui tape deck (only use it to copy tapes for the car - and even that happens rarely).
The amp would be the next thing to renew (maybe NAD, though I'm quite fond of Marantz) - and my speakers (the less said the better), but I think I'll wait until I move house this autumn in order to make sure I get something that suits my (new) listening room.
I wonder if we buy our stereo equipment in the same store ...
