I was thinking about getting the Saab rubber mats. I have the rubber rear cargo mat in my Aero wagon and although it was expensive it fits perfectly and protects well (although when its installed you can't use the sliding floor if so equipped)

I've seen them installed and they fit well, but I had a set of "Pants Saver" mats laying around and I tried them instead. The Pants Saver mats fit well although they're a bit on the short side. they do move around a bit as they don't have the holes for the locating pegs. Some of the non-Saab mats like the Pants Saver have a higher capacity for water/slush than the Saab mats as well. If I didn't have the other mats laying about I'd have gotten the Saab mats (and I may still, as I have no rubber mats for the rear seats) but if you have some old mats laying around give them a try first and see how they work. I've found in the past that the "universal fit" mats like the pants saver don't always fit so well, definitely not as good as the factory mats, but due to the larger size of the 9-5, and a relatively rectangular footwell they fit better than in many cars that I've owned.

In the summer, I replace the rubber mats with the factory carpet mats, and leave the rubber mats in the cargo area. The rubber mat from Saab protects the floor nicely, but when you want full cargo space you can fold down the seats and lay your front rubber mats over the backs of the seats to protect them from whatever it is your haulin'.
