I *really* like the steering on my Aero (liked it on my base 9-5 as well). It's not overboosted, it's light and IMHO makes the car feel very nimble and smaller than it actually is. Unlike the overboosted Buicks I grew up with, there's plenty of road feel and feed back. True the steering effort is quite a bit less than some other sports cars, but don't confuse light steering effort (with good feedback) with "overboosted" power steering (with no feedback).
Back in college I had a Dodge Omni with manual steering. It had high steering effort, but it was still a crappy driver (although not too bad considering the price and longevity, almost free, drove to +180K Mi with just routine maintenance).
