There is no need to illuminate the Sport button, it should never be hard to find, you should never need to look for it, never take your eyes off of the road.
The ergonomics of the 9-5 controls are fantastic.
Shortly after I became addicted to this board (bought my first SAAB last May), someone posted their disappointment that the radio controls on the steering wheel are lighted. The first day or two with my new 9-5, I was wondering the same. But it soon became very easy to find the controls without looking for them, just as those safety-concious Swedes wanted.
A recent rental-from-Hell DeVille had lighted switches on the steering wheel, how distracting.
